Arriva in Kathmandu 1,300m via respective airlines

On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport where you will be received by Dream Tibet guide and staff with warm welcome and then transfer to your hotel in the hub of the city, with time for talks and briefing regarding your stay in Nepal and of Everest Base Camp trekking with full information of the trip.

A day in Kathmandu with half day sightseeing tour at places of interest.

In Kathmandu free day, where you can join in our half day tour around Kathmandu at places of great interest, as Kathmandu valley steeped with history and culture with most of the world heritage sites of Pashupatinath a Hindu temple, Bouddhanath Stupa Buddhist sites also known as ‘Little Tibet’ or tour of Kathmandu Durbar Square of old palace courtyard and a temple resident of Kumari (Living Goddess). Visit Swayambhunath Stupa of more than 2,500 years old also popularly called ‘Monkey Temple’ with free afternoon preparation for Tibet trip and Everest Base Camp trekking.

Fly from Kathmandu to Gongar international airport and drive to Lhasa 3,660 m.

Morning as per the flight to Lhasa transfer to Kathmandu international airport, during an hour airborne mind-blowing views of world’s highest mountains with Mount Everest at its closest, this super flight touches down at Gongar Airport which is just an hour drive to Lhasa city. At Gongor airport well received by our Tibetan guide and drivers for pleasant drive into heart of Lhasa city. Afternoon relax at this high altitude of 3,650 m and take a short walk around Barkhor market square where hotels are located.

In Lhasa with tour of Lhasa interesting places and Potala Palace.

A day day in Lhasa engrossed with interesting tour of Drefung Monastery one of the largest in Tibet, as well important old monastery of Tibet actually a collage and a university for Tibetan Buddhism in earlier days. After Drefung, tour of Jorkhang Temple which is another important and interesting site to visit as it boasts historic importance and tales of old days. The tour concludes for the day visiting Bharkor Bazaar. Next tour of famous and magnificent Potala Palace, originally built during 640 AD. Potala Palace the landmark of Lhasa and Tibet dominates the Kyuchi or Lhasa valley. The 13 storied palaces with 1,000 room stands at 117.19m high include 1000 rooms. Afternoon tour of another interesting and important Shera monastery and watch young monks in debates one of the high light of the visit.

In Lhasa with tour and drive to Ganden Monastery 3,830 m.

Today one of the best way to see Tibetan country landscapes and rural life of villagers with chance to watch Yak grazing on wide open pastureland. Morning a nice drive to Ganden Monastery area, a distance of 45 k.m. towards east of Lhasa, on leaving the main road heading uphill as Ganden monastery located 18 k.m from main highway, on reaching the top sacred ridge of Wangku Ri at Ganden area. Ganden a foremost monastery of Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism (Yellow Hat), all Great Six monasteries (Ganden, Sera, Drepung,Tashilumpo, Labrang, Kumbum) are of Yellow Sects, none suffered as disastrously as Ganden during Cultural Revolution when artillery and vast quantities of dynamite where deployed, at present built into its original form after much destruction. In early time over 2,000 monks lived here; now there are hardly 300 monks, after a nice moment at Ganden drive back to Lhasa.

Drive to Shigatse 3,856m - 06 hrs.

This is about six hour’s scenic drive, and when in Shigatse we visit the very large complex of Tashilumpo monastery. This is the traditional residence of the Panchen Lama and contains a 27m high gold plated Buddha known as Matria (the future Buddha). The hotel in Shigtase is quite large and comfortable.

Drive to Old Tingri 4,350m - 05 hrs.

After a wonderful time at Shigatse, our drive continues to Shegar and towards our trekking point at Old Tingri, crossing over two high passes, one at 4,500m and 5,220m over Gyatsho-la heading towards Shegar town, after a refreshing break continue drive for another hour to Old Tingri, a windblown town located on the road side of Friendship highway with many lodge-guest houses and shops with views of Mt. Everest and Cho- Oyu peaks.

Trek to Lungja 4,510m or further -5 hrs walks.

From here onwards trekking with camping facilities and having pack lunch, as every equipment and baggage carried on Yaks, our walk leads past farm fields, despite its harsh terrain somehow barley are grown in this condition. The walking trails is wide as the villagers use horse cart track on this rough road, after few hours of pleasant walk reaching at Lungja a large settlement, the only village from here onwards to Rongbuk Monstery. After a brief break continue walk for another three hours to camp beyond this village on gradual path for sometimes on rocky crag topped with ruins, which may be an old dzong or fort. An hour turning left into the scrubby hills with an hour climb to a ridge and then descending to our overnight camp, at the base of these hills on the grassy meadow

Trek to Lamana-la pass 4,750 m - 06 hrs.

Our journey continues around green valley then wading across icy river, as the walk leads uphill on the wide pasture field as the valley opens into two separate drainages, In the early 1960's Chinese Army had tried to build the truck road through this area for first Chinese Expeditions to Everest, but unfortunately due to unforeseen reason and difficulty had to divert the road on the other side of the Rongbuk River, our walk leads on a gradual path towards both Lamna La and Pang La (Lamna La is also known Zommug La) we take the shortcut instead of following the long winding cart track, slowly climbing higher ridge of Lamna La after hour climb then downhill towards to a valley between Pang-la & Lamna-la at 4,850m where there is some few herders camps with overnight camp on a pasture near nomads or Drogpa area.

Trek to Rongbuk Monastery 4,980 m - 04 hrs walks.

From the camp walk gets easier on crossing number of creeks on soft grassy meadow after walking at the bottom of Pang-la, two hours climb to reach the top ridge of Pang-la at 5,210m, during summer high altitude blue poppies (Meconopsis) and Gentian Violet dot these rocky slopes, where Tibetan gazelle might be spotted sometimes on reaching the pass where with grand views of snow capped peaks and the valleys down below, a steep descend leads through number of drogpa (herders) camps, as the walk gets pleasant after an hour of straight downhill walks the gradual path ends to a descend towards Rongbuk River, the walk now follows downhill trail on wide winding dirt road with few ups and down, the main road continues its slow ascent, twisting away from the river through arid landscapes of rocky hills and plains. Getting past the creek gully, and then following the road into a series of moraine hills for another hour or less to reach at Rongbuk Monastery with views of Mt. Everest that dominates the entire head of this valley, our overnight camp near the Monastery area with time to visit the old and highest monastery of Tibet.

Trek to Everest North Base Camp at 5,200 m -5 hrs walks both ways.

Rongbuk Gompa and its many hermitage retreats were introduced to the world in the 1920's through the account of the 1st British expedition’s teams of George and Irving Mallory and from the well-known novel Lost Horizon by James Hilton. At present most of the retreat cells are abandoned and only few small monasteries scattered at this end of the valley is in function. According to the Rimpoche of this area, the monastery was first established as a religious site around 250 to 350 years ago. From Rongbuk follow the rough jeep road for a while and then taking a short route over dunes of moraine to reach at Everest North base camp the highlight and goal of our marvelous journey. Here enjoy the full views of world number one Mt. Everest or Chomolungma in Tibetan language meaning great mother, after a wonderful time head back to Rongbuk for overnight stop.

Drive to Nylam 3,780 m -06 hrs.

After a great time at Rongbuk and Everest Base Camp Trekking with last overnight stop in Tibet, as our morning drive leads to join the main Lhasa-Kathmandu (Friendship Highway) highway at Old Tingri, from Tingri views of Mt. Everest and Cho-Oyu peaks, and then continue drive for another three hours to reach at Nylam town with views of Mt. Shisapangma, Dorji Lakpa, Gaurishanker and Langtang mountain range. On reaching Nylam overnight camp just before or after Nylam or check into the local guest house / lodge, Nylam a small growing town.

Drive back to Kathmandu – 06 hrs.

Drive leads back to the lush green vegetation and tree lines on the winding downhill road on reaching Zhangmu a border town, going through the immigration and custom formalities at Zhangmu, continue a short drive to the Friendship Bridge. From here a few minute walk leads to the Nepal Border at Kodari. Here again with the Immigration formalities 5 hours of good scenic drive brings you back at Kathmandu.

A free day today for individual activities, for interested people can join in for another interesting tour around Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur rest of the day free for shopping souvenirs.
